The Mbizana Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks, in collaboration with SARS and the NPA’s Honey Badger Project, has successfully secured a conviction against a local Lusikisiki medical practitioner for failing to comply with South Africa’s tax laws.
The accused, Prince Mkhuseli Mancotywa (62), a practicing doctor in Lusikisiki, neglected to submit six years of Personal Income Tax (2011, 2012, 2020, 2021, 2022–2023) and nine VAT201 returns, despite repeated reminders from SARS compliance officers.
After multiple court appearances at the Mthatha Specialised Commercial Court, Dr. Mancotywa pleaded guilty on 19 February 2026 and paid an admission of guilt fine of R15,000.
This case sends a clear message, and tax compliance is not optional. The Hawks, together with SARS and the NPA, remain steadfast in ensuring that those who ignore their legal obligations face the full force of the law.
