Vakele ‘VK/ V8 engine’ Jamile made a name for himself and his club XJ as he emerged in the top three of the Rising Sun Chartsworth 52 kilometres ultra marathon in Durban recently. Over 3000 athletes from South Africa and beyond took part int this marathon.
According to Jamile, the ultra marathon went well however the second half is where it started to challenge him.
“I led the race with Nkosiyethu Mhlongo and at about 45 kilometres Nkosingiphile Ntuli came with guns blazing and overtook us. We tried to chase but because of his experience of the route, we couldn’t catch him. It was my first ultra marathon, and I learnt a lot from it. To be honest, the route was very brutal and it prepared me for the upcoming Comrades Marathon,” said Jamile.
Another member of the XJ AC is also doing wonders in College Sports Arts and Culture of South Africa “COSACSA” in Greenpoint Stadium in Western Cape. Aqhama Gxoko student at Ingwe Technical and Vocational College, also running under the umbrella of XJ AC said the competition is very tough in the Western Cape but that he will do what it takes to hoist up the flag of XJ AC. Pink drive “XJ AC” is represented by four runners in these COSACSA games.
