Local government department came together recently at the Shayamoya Hall to conduct an Imbizo in aid of finding ways to curb crime in the hot spot areas of Marikana and Shayamoya.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Mosa Hlaki, the involved departments included DOE, DCS, DSD, Ward Councilors, CPF, YDCP, Department of Community Safety and Greater Kokstad Municipality
“Members of the community were engaged in the form of groups and presented their concerns and how they can work with the Police to reduce crime. Pamphlets on how to report GBV, Sexual offences and Children rights were distributed. The Station Commander of Kokstad, Colonel Ruiters presented information about crime affecting the two areas on behalf of the District Commissioner, Major General Xhelithole and Stakeholders did the message of support,” said Hlaki.
She said the event was well attended with about 250 people in attendance.
