Evelina Matita Tsheyisi who was born on 2 April 1924 and was called to heavenly rest on 10 April 2026, just six days after celebrating her 102-year birthday. It is a rare milestone marking a full century of life.
Evelina Matita Tsheyisi was born in eMkhumela location in Pondoland. She was the daughter of the late Mr Msithane and Masikhululweni Mnqini. In 1954 she married the late Mr Nduzulwana Tsheyisi and they were blessed with five children. She is survived by her only daughter, Kokstad resident and educator at Brooksnek Primary School, Mrs Mcwera.
At the funeral, Mrs Tsheyisi was described as a hard worker and strict disciplinarian. Her grandchildren said they would always be in stitches laughing when she visited Kokstad and she always reprimanded their mother, who is also strict on them.
The service was graced by the presence of members of the Kokstad community and Women Manyano of Bhongweni Methodist Church in Kokstad, led by the wife of Rev Dlamini of Bhonweni Methodist Church. Many ministers of religion from different congregations graced the funeral. The funeral service was conducted by the Apostolic Church of Africa in Transkei.
