Police arrested three suspects in the Bulwer area for suspected extortion and impersonating municipal officers.
This according to police spokesperson, Sergeant Mosa Hlaki who says the arrest happened on 7 May in the Nkwezela locality under Bulwer Policing precinct.
“The suspects, aged 33, 39 and 53, were impersonating the NDZ Municipality checking compliance at Foreign Nationals Spaza Shops and demanding bribes if they are not complying. The information was reported at the Police which they swiftly followed the information and managed to arrest the suspect in possession of R2750 which is alleged that they collected from the owners,” said Hlaki.
The suspects are set to appear in the Hlanganani Magistrate Court.
“The police urge members of the Community to report any acts of criminality at the police station so that these criminals can face the law,” concluded Hlaki.
