The body of a 45 year old male farm worker was recovered from the Mzintlava River at Waterfall Farm on 14 October 2026.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Hlaki Mosa, a fellow farm worker spotted the body of the man floating in the river and recovered it before contacting police.
“It is alleged that the farm worker was going to check the water pump next to the river as he usually did after it has rained. The incident was reported to the police however the deceased was identified by the family members as he was reported missing at Kokstad SAPS. The deceased was reported missing in 06/10/2026, according to the police observation the body was washed away by water and his body was starting to be decomposed,” said Hlaki.
Police suspect the man accidentally drowned as he had no injuries apart from an old scar on the back of his head.
In a sperate incident, the body of an unidentified man, suspected to be in his twenties, was found on the side of the road along the R56 last week. Members of the public are urged to report any missing family members who possibly fir the description. Police investigation into the matter continue.
