Two local security companies had their hands full last week with both assisting in emergency births, one at a stop go on the R617 and the other at a local shopping centre in Kokstad.
On Friday night at approximately 19:30, at the Stop & Go on the R617 in Underberg, a mother went into labour and needed urgent assistance. According to Berg Protection Services, their team members did not hesitate to assist the mother in need.
“Without hesitation, Berg Protection Academy immediately responded to assist the mother. Thanks to the quick response and teamwork of Nathan Thompson and Academy Director Debby Deavin, assistance was provided during the safe delivery of a beautiful baby girl!”
The on Sunday morning around 06h50, Security Networx security officer, Marhawu, together with Mr Nontshintshi (Disaster Management) and Spar staff members Lindi and Nomsimelelo, assisted a 21-year-old woman who unexpectedly went into labour at Kokstad Spar. The baby girl was safely delivered on the premises, however an ambulance was requested to provide further medical assistance.
“We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Kokstad Spar employees for their outstanding work, compassion and willingness to assist during this important moment. Their actions, together with those of our Security Officer, demonstrate the value of teamwork, care and commitment when people need help the most. This incident reminds us that security is about more than protecting people and property. It is also about being there for our communities and making a meaningful difference when it matters most. Congratulations to the mother on the safe arrival of her baby! Well done to the Kokstad Spar team and our Security Officer, Marhawu, for stepping up and making a difference,” said Heyneke.
