The Simama Center for Career and Professional Development received support from the Department of Small Business Development when an application for the asset assist programme was recently approved.
Fifty single bed mattresses and bases as well as 25 small refrigerators were delivered to the Simama Centre in Bhongweni last week to be utilised for local student housing.
According to Simama founder, Nokhuthala Siqwayi, the items will be used in the planned Student Accommodation Center which is set to cater to Esayidi TVET College Kokstad Campus students. Simama has acquired the rights to develop Erf 792 from Transnet and the plan is to build student residential units, a multi-purpose sports facility and a training facility with supporting services. The area in question is located on the semi-vacant land at the old Kokstad Railway Station.
Nokhuthala says Simama is currently looking for donors, sponsors and/or business partners to secure funding for the development of the proposed centre.
