More than a year and a half has passed since the mysterious disappearance of four young children from their home in Ntabankulu, and police are again appealing to the public for assistance in finding them.
According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, the children, Sive Siganga (7), Oyintando Siganga (4), Thabsile Siganga (4), and Thabile Siganga (4), were last seen playing in the yard of their home in the Mjila Administrative Area of Ntabankulu on 10 November 2024.
“The children seemingly vanished without a trace under circumstances that continue to perplex investigators. Their disappearance prompted the immediate opening of a kidnapping case and the subsequent involvement of the Hawks. Since the matter was referred to the Hawks, investigators have embarked upon an exhaustive and relentless pursuit of every available and possible leads,” says Mhlakuvana.
He says that numerous investigative interventions have been executed, including intelligence-driven enquiries, inter-provincial follow-ups, community engagements, and the analysis of all information brought to the attention of investigators.
“Their disappearance simultaneously elevates this matter to a level of exceptional concern and urgency. The Hawks therefore, make an urgent appeal to traditional leaders, community leaders, faith-based organisations, civic structures, educational institutions, media houses, non-governmental organisations focused on child protection, and members of the public across South Africa to assist in amplifying this appeal and encouraging anyone with knowledge of the matter to come forward,” said Mhlakuvana.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the children, or any information that may assist investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding their disappearance, is urged to contact unit Commander of Serious Organised Crime, Colonel Raymond Buys at 082 301 1135 and Warrant Officer Norton Ndabambi at 082 559 4613. Alternatively, information may be provided at any South African Police Service station or anonymously report through MySAPSApp.
All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality. Members of the public are encouraged to come forward without delay, even the smallest piece of information may prove decisive in advancing the investigation.
