Matatiele, 25 July 2026 – Bergview College proudly hosted its Annual 1st Team Soccer Tournament at the Matatiele Country Club, bringing together some of the region’s finest school football teams for a day of exciting, competitive, and high-quality soccer.
Participating schools included Bergview College, St. Monica’s Diocesan School, Focused High School, St. Patrick’s College, King Edward High School, Kokstad College, and Matatiele Secondary School. Throughout the day, players displayed outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and determination, while showcasing their football talent and passion for the game. The tournament also provided learners with an opportunity to develop their skills, build lasting friendships, and compete in a positive and supportive environment.
The tournament concluded with an exciting final between Matatiele Secondary School and King Edward High School. After an impressive display of football, Matatiele Secondary School emerged as the tournament champions, with King Edward High School finishing as deserving runners-up.
Bergview College extends its sincere congratulations to both finalists and thanks every participating school, coach, manager, official, and supporter for contributing to the success of the tournament. A special word of appreciation is extended to Matatiele OK Foods (Sondela) for their generous sponsorship and donation, which provided refreshments for the match officials and players. Your support played a valuable role in ensuring the success of the event.
