Traditional Leaders from KwaBhaca, EmaXesibeni, Ntabankulu, Mbizana and Matatiele attended a two-day workshop at Alfred Nzo cultural history museum in EmaXesibeni on 12 and 13 March 2026.
The District Director of Department of Sports Arts and Culture, Miss Makhozana Mbedu said this was a strategic planning session, to protect heritage and have a vision and mission for the establishment. They also look at funding partnerships. She said Alfred Nzo is composed of different tribes, Bhacas, Xesibes, Pondos, Hlubis, Sothos, Xhosa.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the museum, Mr Sakhumzi Dlova the museum sends a word of thanks to Afred Nzo Radio and Kokstad Advertiser for covering events of the museum and therefore marketing it. Organized labour is represented by Mr Bantubenkosi Sidlakadla who said government must employ personnel to work in the museum before it is vandalized. He said the use of interns to work in government institutions is exploitation as these workers have no benefits. Mr Magadla said the government can spend R2,5 million on one event and give only R50000 to employ people. He said there is no heritage management set up plan in the Eastern Cape.
