From Maclear to the world – From board rooms to kitchens – From dreams to reality! This August month we honoured the strength, faith and stories of all women – For each woman’s story counts.
Proverbs 31:25-26 She is clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
We, the women of the Nazerene Church, Maclear celebrated women’s month by telling our stories: our theme was – “Who am I”. Each Sunday different groups took part in sharing their stories in church – I want to thank each and every lady who took part in the event. On Saturday 29th August, we were so blessed to end the month with an event, where different motivational speakers took part. Mrs S. Mann from Kokstad, Mrs S. Tafeni from Maclear and also ladies from the community.
We also handed over 15 gift bags for newborn babies to the maternity ward at the local hospital. Ladies knitted bootees, caps and also essential toiletries were gathered to complete the gift bags. All Glory and honour to God Almighty that we had such a fruitful Women’s month 2026! If you strike a woman, you strike a rock…. Wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo – the late Nelson Mandela.
Message from pastor A. de Kock from the Nazerene church Maclear: We are not there yet. Women in our communities are still going through pain, hardship and violence. We need stricter laws and harsher penalties. Well that’s the role of our law makers.
Does it mean we have to sit back and do nothing…. NO! The women and role-players of the Nazerene church of Maclear together with community members took hands and piloted a well received project. Each Sunday women from their group volunteered their testimonies, their motivation and inspiration in church. This continued for the whole August month. Matt. 25: 40 where Jesus says – “truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it for Me.”
The women started knitting bootees, hats for newly born babies. They managed to put together 15 giftbags for the mothers in Maclear hospital Maternity ward. On 27th August they handed these to the CEO and doctor at the hospital.
A wonderful motivational speaker, Mrs S. Mann, social worker from Kokstad KZN and Mrs S. Tafeni from Maclear, embraced the women on Saturday 29th of August at church where they motivated and empowered the women with knowledge in how to deal with challenging situations. What a perfect way to end this month. We encourage women to speak out. You don’t have to face challenges on your own. Look out for the Naomis around you. They are ready to take your hand!
