Local golfers took to the greens at Kokstad Golf Club on Saturday, 19 September, for a day of fun and community spirit.
The fun day drew 60 players from the community, all swinging their clubs to support our St Patrick’s Cathedral Repair Fund. After two days of steady rainfall, the sun shone through brilliantly to set the stage for an amazing day of golf.
Following a shotgun start, teams competed in a four-ball scramble format. The day concluded
with an unprecedented awards ceremony, where every participant received a prize. The funds raised will allow the church to effect urgent and necessary repairs to our iconic, 102 yr old Cathedral.
This event was made possible through the generous backing of sponsors and players. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Bishop Thulani Victor Mbuyisa CMM, who took time out of his busy schedule to bless and support our initiative; the staff of the Kokstad Golf Club, in particular, Charmaine Swart, Chooks Lourens and other club management, as well as our fundraising team, who managed the logistics seamlessly.
This was St Patrick’s Cathedral’s first ever golf event, and we plan to make it an annual tradition, growing from strength to strength.
