The body of an African female, estimated to be in her sixties, was found by a community member floating in the river near Kokstad Primary School last Wednesday.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Mosa Hlaki, police were alerted to the situation around 14h00.
“The body was found by members of the community. The victim was later identified by her daughter, who reported her missing at CSC earlier. The body of the deceased had an open wound on the right side of her neck and some of body parts were missing,” said Hlaki. Reports indicate that it was the women’s arms and genitals that were missing.
Police are registered an inquest docket for further investigation. At this stage no arrests have yet been made. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information about the incident to please report it to the Kokstad SAPS.
