Issued by ANC Harry Gwala Regional Task Team Coordinator, Cde Qiniso Mnguni
The recently appointed interim leadership of the Harry Gwala Regional Task Team (RTT) officials have moved with urgency and resolve to stabilise and unify the organisation, convening a strategic engagement with all branches under the Kokstad Subregion.
Held at the Bhongweni Youth Centre on Monday, the meeting marked a decisive intervention aimed at revitalising organisational discipline, strengthening internal cohesion, and mobilising members towards a common purpose. This engagement forms part of a broader programme to ensure that the Kokstad Subregion is anchored in legitimate, functional leadership structures in preparation for the forthcoming elections scheduled for 4 November 2026.
Central to the deliberations was the imperative of reconciliation and unity. The RTT acknowledged the period of organisational dissonance that had given rise to parallel leadership structures within Kokstad. Through principled engagement and collective introspection, the meeting succeeded in restoring confidence and reaffirming the unity of the movement. The existence of parallel structures has now been decisively resolved and belongs firmly to the past.
The Convenor of the RTT, Cde Cynthia Ntabeni, alongside the RTT Officials demonstrated steadfast and inclusive leadership in guiding this process of renewal. Their efforts have been instrumental in re-integrating members who had felt marginalised, ensuring that the ANC in Kokstad emerges stronger, more cohesive, and firmly aligned with its foundational values.
Following a democratic and consultative process led by branches, the Kokstad Subregional leadership has been constituted as follows: Convenor: Samkele Nondize; Deputy Convenor: Monde Nondabula; Coordinator: Thoneka Mngonyama; 1st Deputy Convenor: Sibusiso Phuzi; 2nd Deputy Convenor: Nokuphila Mda; Treasurer: Thandazile Vumijojo. Additional Members: Phumzile Nocanda, Thozama Mjoli, Chuma Mqedlane, Nonkosi Mpanda, Sindiswa Duma, and Khaya Xorile.
The Harry Gwala RTT extends its sincere appreciation to all branches for their responsiveness and commitment in attending this engagement at short notice. The Task Team will continue its programme of outreach across all subregions to consolidate unity, deepen organisational renewal, and ensure collective readiness for the upcoming electoral contest.
The African National Congress remains resolute in its mission to rebuild, unite, and lead. The interests of the organisation and the people it serves will always take precedence over individual ambitions. ANC LIVES, ANC LEADS.
